Earn a Bachelor's Degree in Urban & Community Studies

Capital Community College Articulation Agreement
Urban and Community Studies Tri-Campus Program has a formal Articulation Agreement with Capital Community College. Students at Capital Community College who are interested in pursuing a bachelor's degree in Urban and Community Studies are encouraged to contact Michele White at Capital Community College (860) 906-5104 or at mwhite@ccc.commnet.edu.
As a Capital Community College student, based on your interests, you may choose from three associate degrees at CCC in preparation for a Bachelor's degree in Urban and Community Studies.
- Social Service - Associate in Science Degree
- The Social Service Degree curriculum has a dual function. It prepares students for entry level career positions in a variety of social service occupations and it provides the first two years of a course of study leading to a baccalaureate degree.
- Liberal Arts and Science - Associate in Arts Degree
- The liberal arts and science program provides broad education in traditional areas of knowledge and leads to an Associate in Arts degree. This program is designed to meet the needs of students who wish to make further strides toward a baccalaureate degree.
- Liberal Arts: Ethnic Studies Focus - Associate in Arts Degree
- This course sequence is a variation on the traditional Liberal Arts degree and requires similar core-curriculum across the humanities, social sciences, sciences and the fine arts. The Ethnic Studies sequence of specific courses prepares students to academically explore and understand the central issues of the U.S. society today: race, ethnicity, class, gender, sexuality, nationality and religion.
Although other UConn Campuses may also be considered an option, we have specifically designed this program so that students could continue their studies in the Greater Hartford Area. Once at UConn Greater Hartford campus, the UCS major offers a variety of academic options. You may personalize your degree based on your interests and/or career aspirations.
