Minor in Urban Community Studies

Requirements
The minor in Urban and Community Studies (UCS) is an interdisciplinary minor with a focus on educating citizens on the multiple dimensions of urban and community life and preparing students for careers in public and community service. While available with any undergraduate major, this minor provides an especially appropriate complement to majors in the social sciences, as well as professional schools that emphasize human services such as Human Development and Family Studies or Education.
The minor requires passing 15 credits at the 200 level as follows: (06/07)

Students interested in pursuing a minor in Urban and Community Studies are advised to complete 100-level courses in the social sciences, which are prerequisites for courses in Urban and Community Studies. These include, but are not limited to GEOG/URBN 130, ECON 112, POLS 173 or POLS 173W, SOCI 107 or SOCI 107W, SOCI 115 or SOCI 115W, and STAT 100Q/ STAT 110Q. They should also plan on enrolling in URBN 230 or 230W, which is open to sophomores, as soon as possible. (The minor is offered by the Urban and Community Studies Program).
