Sandra Bender Fromson is a Special Lecturer, Urban and Community Studies at the University of Connecticut. Prior to receiving her Ph.D. in 2004 from the University of Connecticut, she worked in the non-profit as well as the financial services industries; and has held local public office. She is the author of “Mission versus Maintenance: Social Movement Organizations’ Multiple Forms” in Sociological Focus. Her dissertation, Pawns, Knights, or Kings: Understanding the Role of Regulators in Public Policy, focuses on regulatory influence on public policy in the financial services arena. Her current research interests focus on urban redevelopment, and structural differences between state and federal workfare policies and “work readiness.”
